Katy started practising Iyengar yoga in 2002 – a few months after the birth of her third child. Her discovery of yoga at this time in her life enabled her to have a balanced and healthy mind, attitude and body when as well as bringing up her three young children she was working in Further Education in Bristol teaching English and Film Studies. She qualified at Introductory Level 2 teacher in 2014, and at Junior Intermediate 1 in 2017 and now teaches Iyengar Yoga ‘full time’. Katy has attended many Iyengar Yoga events with some fantastic visiting Indian and European teachers, (some of these at Yogawest) and including Abhijata Iyengar, BKS Iyengar’s granddaughter at the 2014 Iyengar Yoga Convention in Exeter.
In addition to her own study and practice of yoga, Katy hopes especially to be able to pass on through her teaching the profound physical and psychological benefits of Iyengar yoga to students – whatever their level of fitness and flexibility. In her own life it has been a ‘constant’ and gives her physical and mental strength and stability through all the changes and challenges that life brings.
Katy lives in Cotham, where she enjoys a busy and vibrant family life with her husband and their three teenage children. She loves the enormous beech trees in Cotham, cycling around Bristol and walking in the countryside.
Katy teaches at Yogawest on Tuesday mornings: 9.30>11 (General) and Wednesday mornings: 09.15>10.30 (Beginners).
