Frances lives in St Andrews with husband Yusuf and teenage children. She has practised Iyengar yoga for almost 30 years. Richard Ward was her first teacher; she studied with Gerry Chambers and Lynda Purvis in the last 10 years and undertook her teacher training with them. She is an Intermediate Junior 2 Qualified teacher.
Frances says: “It is a great responsibility and a pleasure to introduce new students to Iyengar Yoga. I love to teach the foundation class as it is a closed course and I can get to know the students and people feel free to ask questions. I can see changes after only six weeks. I also enjoy teaching more advanced students, the late class on Thursday usually quite small, and I take the time of day into account to incorporate a recuperative aspect to this class including pranayama. I like to teach all types of people, old and young.
In my day job I work with students with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. I started out as a plumbing apprentice. I try not to make assumptions about people.”
Frances teaches at Yogawest on Monday evenings: 6-7pm (Foundation course – 6 weeks, check for next start date), Thursday evenings: 8>9.30pm (Intermediate 1).
