Trainee teachers at Yogawest

You may notice there are trainee teachers in some classes over the next few weeks. This is to support them in their journey to becoming teachers. We are trialling this until the summer and if you have any thoughts about how this is working do please let us know.

Win a Yogacard-6

feedback cardIf you haven’t yet filled out a feedback form, please pick one up at reception and drop it to us by Sunday 24th, or email it to: info@yogawest.co.uk

The winners of the prize draw will receive either a Yogacard-6 (3 available) or a Yogawest mug (20 available).

Tell us what you like about Yogawest and what you would like us to improve. We’d like to hear about any changes you would like to see in the centre or on the timetable. Is there a yoga class you would like us to run?

We would also like to hear from you about your favourite teachers. Can you give them a testimonial that we could include on our website?

We will contact the winners by email in the week following the draw.

Congratulations

Well done to all our teachers taking yoga exams this month – whatever the outcome we know how much time and effort goes into the preparation, and we salute you: you all deserve many congratulations.

Easter at Yogawest

Reduced Timetable

There’s a reduced timetable at Yogawest between Wednesday March 27th and Friday April 5th.

Details

Yogawest is closed on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th March with no classes running. We are running special workshops on Easter Friday and Easter Sunday (no timetabled classes on those days), and on Easter Saturday we are open for the 2 morning classes as usual.
Yogawest is closed on bank holiday Monday April 1st, and re-opens with a slightly reduced timetable that week (only Jess and Kirsten’s classes are not on: see list of classes not running below), back to our usual full timetable on Saturday 6th.
Check the timetable online for up-to-date details that week.

Easter Weekend

On Easter weekend we are running two 3-hour workshops which will be a lovely way to mark the change of season and get your yoga practice into summer gear. Andrea is teaching which gives you a great opportunity to work with her at a deeper level before she leaves Bristol in May. Book in advance to save money (just 3 stamps on your yoga card for each workshop).

Friday March 29th 3–6pm
A restorative afternoon, similar in feel to Andrea’s Friday evening class but with more time to explore individual poses and focus on pranayama. A wonderful way to prepare for the Easter weekend!
Cost: £25
or 3 stamps on your yogacard (if booked in advance)
or 4 stamps on your yogacard (if paid on the day).

Saturday March 30th
Classes run as usual: 9.45 Intermediate and 11.30 Beginners.

Sunday April 1st 11am-2pm
A steady paced general workshop, with plenty of time to look at some asanas in more detail. A good workshop to do in addition to the Friday one, or on it’s own. (NB the clocks change that weekend, so 11am will feel like 10am!).
Cost:
£25
or 3 stamps on your yogacard (if booked in advance)
or 4 stamps on your yogacard (if paid on the day).

Both workshops are suitable for all levels, Andrea will work with you according to your ability, so more advanced students will be challenged and those withe less experience will be given alternative poses if needed. Beginners are particularly encouraged: it’s a lovely way to try out a shorter workshop before coming to a yoga day or weekend.

Places still available for Bobby Clennell

The legendary Bobby Clennell is at Yogawest on May 17th, 18th and 19th. If you haven’t yet booked, we urge you to secure your place soon, as we expect students from around the UK to travel to Bristol to be taught by Bobby when she is here.

Bobby is a magical and inspirational teacher: amongst her books is the wonderful The Woman’s Yoga Book which she wrote and illustrated and is on every teacher’s shelf! She has spent many years working with women (and men too), and is particularly knowledgeable on working with older bodies in a safe, comfortable and pleasurable way. If there’s something you need particular help with, Bobby is sure to know how to help you.

Despite being ranked among the great senior yoga teachers of the world, Bobby is known for her calm and generous teaching style, promoting smiles throughout the room and a sense of wellbeing that lingers for days afterwards.

Although you can come to just one workshop, we highly recommend you come for at least a day (and those in the know have already booked for all 3 days!).

Also introducing the Subtle aspect of the practice, where we use the postures to open and soften in order to invite the mind into the world of breath. This will lead us to expanding our own perception of the inner world with the use of Pranayama techniques.”

or 4 stamps on your yogacard (if paid on the day).
