Thanks for your help with making improvements to the timetable this year. We value your feedback – please keep your suggestions and feedback coming.

New valuables rack in Studio 1

IMAG0297

Next time you come to class, you will notice a bespoke bit of furniture for valuables in Studio 1. This is designed to take small valuables such as keys and mobile phones. Large bags and coats can be left in the changing rooms or on the coat hooks in the unisex area of the foyer. If your class is in Studio 2, valuables can be stored on the shelves above the chairs.

If you bring your phone into the studio, please do remember to switch it fully off to ensure it does not bother you and others during the class. We ask that phones are completely turned off  – not just to silent or vibrate – so that the studio environment is pure and not polluted by invading mobile signals: we get enough of those everywhere else!

Autumn Yoga Days – Save the Dates!

Karen Dunne and Lizzie Biggin teaching at ‘Womankind Yogathon’

Some of you have told us you’d like to start coming to workshops but are daunted by the international senior teachers who come to visit us. So we’ve prepared a treat this Autumn – two nurturing Yoga Days, each taught by kind and experienced teachers.

The days are designed to give you the time and environment to work on poses and alignments in greater detail than you would during a regular class. Yoga days are a great way to ease your body and mind into the next season (the first is in Autumn and the second will have a focus on preparing you for Winter). Working with two teachers is helpful, not just because there are two pairs of eyes to observe and correct you (!), but because you get a very rounded understanding of the asanas you explore and of course there’s always an opportunity to do some alternative sequences during the day if needed.

Lizzie and Karen, Nov 16th

The first day is on Saturday November 16th, jointly taught by our own Lizzie Biggin and her colleague Karen Dunne from London. Lizzie and Karen have trained together for many years with Sheila Haswell, both deservedly have a loyal group of students, and are looking forward to another opportunity to co-teach, this time at Yogawest. The photo is of Karen and Lizzie teaching at the ‘Womankind Yogathon’ last year.

Email us to register your interest, letting us know you’d like to receive full details on Lizzie and Karen’s Yoga Day when published.

Indira and Diana, Dec 8th

Indira and Diana in Turkey

The 2nd yoga day is Sunday December 8th, taught by Diana Penny (from Yogawest) and Indira Lopez-Bassols (from Mexico via Wimbledon). Diana and Indira taught their first yoga holiday together in Turkey earlier this year and have already been booked to return next May. They enjoy the energy of teaching together and find that their union brings out quite different qualities than their delivery as individuals. They are looking forward to seeing those of you that have specially requested a Bristol workshop with them.

Email us to register your interest, letting us know you’d like to receive full details on Diana and Indira’s Yoga Day when published.

Open Day September 14th

BYT_image

You are warmly invited to our Open Day on Saturday, September 14th. As part of the first annual Bristol Yoga Trail, we are opening our doors to celebrate the yoga community in Bristol. Like last year, we are bringing teachers and students together, giving you an opportunity to chat to others and to bring your friends to explore our yoga space. There will be tea and homemade cakes too so do bring some visitors with you! This year the event lasts for the whole day, and in the evening we’d love you to join us for a film screening and social.

More info here.

Two new teachers at Yogawest

We have a new timetable this September. Most of the classes remain unchanged and we are pleased to announce some good news… We have two new teachers joining us and one completely new class on Sunday evenings.

Edgar Stringer

Edgar-458-headshot-170x169We are delighted that Edgar Stringer, a wonderful senior teacher from Chippenham, will be with us on Fridays to teach the experienced class in the morning and the lunchtime general class. Edgar is also planning to teach occasional pranayama classes on Friday early mornings. We have been hoping to get Edgar on the timetable for some time and are very excited that he has finally agreed. Read more about Edgar here.

Julian Lindars

Julianheadshot2We have listened to your feedback and by popular demand are launching a new Sunday evening class at 6pm taught by Julian Lindars, who has been coming to Yogawest for many years as a student and has covered classes here since becoming a qualified teacher in 2008.
