Ellen discovered the joy of Iyengar Yoga in 2005 while at University. She has been a dedicated practitioner ever since, guided by some wonderful teachers in Bristol and London. The calming peace of mind brought through Iyengar Yoga helped Ellen complete her degree, and the physical benefits have helped Ellen compete at a high level in Triathlon (Ellen represented GB in the age-group world championships in 2013) and keep a healthy back through two pregnancies and small child-carrying.
Ellen was inspired to teach by her own excellent teachers, and the wish to share the multiple benefits with others. Ellen became an Introductory teacher in 2018, taught by Sheila Haswell.
Ellen says: “Iyengar Yoga has given me the space to find quietness in an otherwise busy life, which has been a huge benefit. I love the way that my mind becomes so focused on the postures and practice that I am truly present. Iyengar Yoga is careful and precise. It allows the student discover how their body works, where there is balance and imbalance, and where alignment, strength and flexibility can be improved. I hope that my students enjoy the learning that comes in each class, and the glow that follows the practice.”
Ellen lives in Bedminster with her husband and two young children.
Ellen teaches a beginners course at Yogawest on Sunday mornings, 9:45am>11am.
