Katy discovered Iyengar Yoga in 2002. Her first experience of yoga brought to light the practice of the asanas (or postures) as transformative –for the body and mind. For Katy, yoga is a ‘constant’ that develops physical and mental strength, stability, calm and balance through all the changes and challenges that life brings. In her teaching she hopes to pass on to students the profound physical and psychological benefits of Iyengar yoga– whatever their level of fitness and flexibility.
She currently holds an Intermediate Junior Level 2 Certificate. During her study and practice of yoga she continues to be a student as well as a teacher. Her own learning and teaching has been enriched by teachings directly from members of the Iyengar family and other Senior teachers in the UK, Europe and India – on a technical, philosophical and therapeutic level.
Katy was a teacher and lecturer in English Literature and also Film Studies in Further Education Colleges for 25 years before devoting her studies and teaching to Iyengar Yoga. She lives in Cotham and enjoys walking, gardening, enormous Beech trees and cycling around Bristol.
Katy teaches at Yogawest on Tuesday mornings: 9.30>11 (General) and Wednesday mornings: 09.15>10.30 (Beginners).
