Movember at Yogawest

Mike’s 2013 Movember moustache

We are challenging all Yogawest students (and teachers!) to support the Movember challenge by growing a moustache during the month of November in order to raise awareness for men’s health issues such as testicular and prostate cancer and mental health.

Not a man? No problem – we will have a variety of Kohl pencils at reception and you can ‘grow’ your moustache each week.

You can officially register to raise money for Movember here but whether or not you register, you can still take part at Yogawest. We will take a group photo of all the moustaches at the end of the month and prizes will be awarded!

Email us to register your hirsute pursuit.

Watch this space for updates and photos as they happen.

Movember 2014

mikesmovembermoustacheCROPHave you noticed Mike’s rather wonderful moustache growing throughout November?

He’s in practice for next year’s Movember for which we will be inviting Yogawest men to join us to raise money for men’s charities. We’ll also have some great ideas and suggestions so women can join in too!

Well done to those of you who have been involved this year. We cannot wait to join in next time.

Yogawest is a North Bristol Food Bank collection point

In conjunction with Bishopston Matters we are a collection point in Gloucester Road for you to donate food for local people in need. We are collecting non-perishable food during Lent – February 13th to March 30th under the campaign ‘Don’t Give Up – Give!’

There is a donation box in the hallway, where you can place your food donation. We also have shopping lists and leaflets with additional information. A shopping list of needed items is also available to download here.

North Bristol Food Bank is a local charity collecting donations of non-perishable foods and distributing them (via referrals and a voucher system) to families in crisis in the North Bristol area.  The whole project is run by local volunteers.  As well as handing out food they signpost people to seek help and advice linking with debt, health, training, parenting etc.  People that receive the help come from all walks of life and are often shocked and ashamed to find themselves in a position where they are receiving hand-outs of food.
