The builders are in Yogawest again this week: this time putting up some new rope stations in both studios.
After much consultation and discussion, Mike, Jon and our favourite glam rock builders have selected the locations and best formats for the new sets. We hope they will be up and running by next week.
And if you look closely at the top right of the picture you’ll be able to spot two steel ropes hanging from the ceiling which are ready to support some new hanging swings. We are trialling the system at the moment, ready for use in time for the upcoming workshops (Edgar Oct 25 and Indira&Diana Nov 15) and Autumn classes.
Next time you come to class, you will notice a bespoke bit of furniture for valuables in Studio 1. This is designed to take small valuables such as keys and mobile phones. Large bags and coats can be left in the changing rooms or on the coat hooks in the unisex area of the foyer. If your class is in Studio 2, valuables can be stored on the shelves above the chairs.
If you bring your phone into the studio, please do remember to switch it fully off to ensure it does not bother you and others during the class. We ask that phones are completely turned off – not just to silent or vibrate – so that the studio environment is pure and not polluted by invading mobile signals: we get enough of those everywhere else!
We have a new timetable coming out in September with some tweaks to current classes and some new classes too. Details will be published shortly: look out for the link in “What’s New” on the home page. For some advance info, look here.
For those of you that have recently completed foundation courses, don’t forget that you get a 10% discount of your first Yogacard-6 which makes it £45.90 and is valid for 3 calendar months. If you haven’t yet bought yours, email Andy with the date you started your foundation course (or day of the week if you can’t remember) and he will send you confirmation of your discount. Valid for cards bought before end September. If you’d like some help with choosing a suitable class, look here.
Many of you have now met Andy who has been learning the ropes at Yogawest in recent weeks. Andy will continue to help us with administration and reception duties in the Autumn. You can contact him at email@example.com
Yogawest is now closed for our long-awaited ceiling re-fit in both studios. The “Glam Rock Builders” have moved in and are full steam ahead until we re-open on Monday September 3rd.
While the builders are busy in the studios, we are washing the mats, planning some exciting upcoming workshops through the year, and putting the final touches to the new timetable, which will be published shortly. We are looking forward to Kirsten’s Friday morning class for teachers and experienced students, and are pleased to tell you that Richard will still teach occasional Friday classes and workshops here too.
Sheila Haswell is here for 2 days at the end of September: she will teach a general yoga day on Saturday 29th and a teachers/experienced students day on Friday 28th. We are taking bookings now and there is a discount if you pay before Sept 14th.
Following our 3-week re-fit, Yogawest resumes with a full timetable on Monday September 3rd.
Janet’s general class at 10.30 is the first class. Keep an eye on the website for the new timetable: some classes have changed.
We are replacing the tired ceilings in both studios over the next 3 weeks, so no classes are running.
We re-open with a full timetable (to be published shortly) on Monday September 3rd at 10.30am with Janet’s class.
Yoga and Cakes at Yogawest
We are celebrating the new-look Yogawest with an open afternoon on Saturday 15 September 2012.
Yogawest is open to all from 1.30 pm until 5 pm. There will be free classes and taster sessions as well as tea and cakes.
All are welcome: current students, new students and anyone curious to see our lovely building.
The afternoon will start with a 55 minute Yoga class at 1.30 pm taught by Diana, and there will be shorter taster classes throughout the afternoon.
Regulars can enjoy spending a lovely afternoon in the Yogawest garden with people they know and practice with. For newcomers, there will be an opportunity to meet and talk to the Yogawest team and find out more about the benefits of a regular yoga practice.
There will be home-made cakes and refreshments including fresh mint tea from the garden, apple pies and chocolate brownies.
If you do not know Yogawest yet Mike and Diana encourage you to give the New Yogawest a try: a warm welcome awaits!

We are also creating a separate entrance to our therapy room and from September plan to have a team of therapists here offering treatments. If you’d like to recommend a favourite practitioner, do please drop us a line.
From July 23rd we will run a slightly reduced timetable as we prepare Studio 2 for the building work: the updated schedule will be published here and on the timetable page, but if you have any questions or want to check your class will run, please email us.
Pumpkin the Yogawest campervan has got a beautiful new coat and we are having fun taking her out on errands around Bristol.
We are compiling a gallery of Yogawest students in yoga poses with Pumpkin: email yours to us to win a free class. And win a class for a friend too if your photo shows Pumpkin is somewhere other than at Yogawest!
