We are trying something new in the shop.
Tattva Incense is hand-made in the town of Rishikesh, on the banks of the Ganges river in the Indian Himalaya.
The non-toxic, natural herbs and oils are chosen and formulated into sophisticated blends of paste by Tattva Incense founder and owner Prem Narayan. It’s then hand-rolled onto wooden sticks, air-dried and packaged.
Sam Xenofou is offering a set of beautifully produced practice sequences for sale at Yogawest. These have been printed in conjunction with her Iyengar-teacher colleague from Athens Katerina Pylava. Donations are being collected for Doctors Without Borders, an organisation working with refugees in her home country of Greece.
The sequences presented in the leaflets are based on the Iyengar system and they are structured in such a way that each asana prepares the body for the next one, with each sequence being beneficial for the nervous system.
The leaflets are on display at Yogawest with a donation box nearby. Sam requests a minimum donation of £5.00 per leaflet.
Money collected from the practice leaflets will support refugees who arrive in Greece having fled their countries in the Middle East and Africa. The contribution to the Doctors Without Borders organisation will help towards this worthy cause.
Sam and Katerina feel very passionate about the cause and are very grateful for your support.
If you don’t live in Bristol and would like to order a set of the sequences (4 in total) for £25, email us to find out how to order.

Have you seen the amazing new range of phone and tablet covers made from old Yogawest mats by the brilliant Katcha Bilek, just down the road in Stokes Croft?
Katcha was quick off the mark when we replaced our Studio 1 mats recently and had a great idea as to how to re-use them… and now they are here!
Diana popped in to Katcha’s studio recently to see the prototypes and order the first set. Let us know what you think, or if you’ve got a suggestion for what Katcha should make next.
Andy has been working for Yogawest for a couple of years and is a big hit with the Thursday morning ladies!
As well as reception duties, Andy runs the admin on the termtime courses and deals with teacher admin too.
Rose (who you may know from the Thursday classes) is doing some receptionist work for Yogawest: if you see her here, be kind while she learns the ropes.
Eula has worked at Yogawest for many weeks now and is very popular for her gentle and welcoming manner.
A trained nurse, Eula has an encouraging and efficient manner behind the reception desk.
And in case you’ve been wondering, the delicate and beautiful flower arrangements are Eula’s specialism!

And we have unique, beautiful handmade and painted yoga plates by one of our students, potter Morag Macinnes.
Of course we also have excellent quality mats, blankets, blocks, belts and eye bags which make for a well received present to a yogi.
And we also have the latest range of Yogawest bath oils, alongside some lovely Amphora candles.
We are delighted to announce the arrival of beautiful and eco-friendly Milochie products, arriving into the Yogawest shop on Sunday November 29th.
The Milochie Story
Milochie’s story began with designer and founder Angela Kohn whose passion for patterns, nature and wellbeing unified to create a platform where these passions evolved into products. It became ever more apparent to Angela that it was a challenge to discover beautiful, fun and stylish yet functional yoga equipment that was eco-conscious and fair-trade. Working closely with yoga teachers and students, the journey to create beautiful yet functional equipment began.
With Milochie you are not simply buying a stylish alternative, but also high quality products that are made of natural materials and created by craftsmen working in a fair-trade environment where both sides share the benefit. Milochie products are created with exciting patterns, botanically inspired, that focus on mirroring the union of yoga with nature and it is therefore our top priority to ensure the wellbeing of our craftsmen and the materials used in our products.
The Milochie Range
Come and see the beautiful Milochie mats, equipment bags, belts, Pune shorts and bolster covers we’ve got in stock.
Jon and Mike spent many happy hours this week unpacking, labelling and displaying our fantastic new range of T-shirts made especially for us by Sudhir and his team in Pune, India. Each one is hand-painted with a stylish take on the familiar Yogawest logo, then hand-dyed in Batik fashion. We are thrilled with them and are delighted with the comments we’ve had so far.
Thanks to the ladies from the Thursday morning women’s class for modelling them for us.
