Sarah-Louise Gallagher Dietz

Sarah-Louise has been studying Iyengar yoga since 2002 and undertook teacher training with Sheila Haswell, Lydia Holmes and Edgar Stringer at Yogawest to become certified at Introductory Level 2 in 2019.

Sarah-Louise discovered Iyengar yoga after returning from a trip to India and finding herself in a low place. A neighbour recommended Yogawest and Sarah_Louise started going regularly to classes. It was a lightbulb experience. Having suffered recurrent depression and anxiety since adolescence, the effect of yoga on her quality of life was immediate and profound. She continues to be amazed by the way yoga balances and nourishes the physical, emotional and spiritual self, and finds it a privilege to see this process unfold in her students. She especially appreciates how yoga has helped her find more kindness for herself and others.

Sarah-Louise has always enjoyed teaching and using the spoken word to connect with people. She has a PhD in poetic influence and psychoanalytic theory, and has previously taught Philosophy and English Literature at the University of Bristol. She also qualified and worked as a secondary school English teacher in the past, however much prefers to teach yoga. She is interested in how yoga can benefit teenagers and young adults, and enjoys teaching beginners and improvers of all ages.

Apart from practising yoga, Sarah-Louise tries to spend as much time outdoors as possible with her husband and their two young children.

Sarah-Louise teaches on Wednesday evenings at 6:45>8:00 (Beginners) and Thursdays after school 16:45 (teenagers).
