Yogawesties on Gloucester Road

You may have noticed a couple of shops catering for children, just a few minutes walk from Yogawest. Moodles and Oddsox are the latest additions to the thriving area of Gloucester Road Central. Both businesses are owned by Yogawest students.

Moodles familyMoodles, owned by Sarah Ubhi, opened in January 2014 and specialises in quality children’s clothing. All the clothing is British made, echoing Sarah’s wish to minimise her carbon footprint and her concerns about working conditions in overseas factories.

Sarah’s three children (aged 12, 10 and 8, and also Yogawest students) provide valuable input to Moodles, holding positions of business adviser, creative director and buying assistant!

shop frontThe independent children’s shoe shop Oddsox was launched by friends Jo Adamson and Sarah Chope in 2012, offering quality footwear at an affordable price. With three children each, they were both aware of the need for a local alternative to the shopping mall.  Footwear sizes in Oddsox range from pre-walkers up to an adult size 8.

We wish Sarah, Jo and Sarah continued success with their retail ventures.

Updated timetable now online

Timetable-Jan14-fcThe new Yogawest timetable is now available online and can be downloaded here. Printed copies will be available at the studio in a couple of weeks’ time.

A new 10am Saturday morning beginners class is being taught by Sam Xenofou. Sam is a newly qualified teacher and we are very pleased that she is teaching at Yogawest after having been here as a student for many years. You can read more about Sam here.

Frances is now teaching the Wednesday evening 6:15 intermediate class, and Luke has taken on the Saturday morning intermediate (9:45) and general (11:30) classes. During December, we said goodbye to Annette. Annette has taught for many years at Yogawest and we are very sorry to see her go. We wish her all the very best and look forward to seeing her at Yogawest events in the future.

There are a few classes which are not continuing due to low attendance numbers – the Tuesday evening experienced (6:00) Wednesday early morning general (7:30) and the Sunday evening general (6:00) classes. Julian is away for a couple of months  but once he’s back we may re-introduce the Sunday evening class if there’s enough interest. Likewise we are happy to consider adding new classes if we can – let us know which time slots would be good for you.

Spread the Joy

spread-the-wordOne of the best ways of people finding Yogawest is through reviews on the internet. We looked recently and found there are only 2 reviews of us out there, and we’d really love it if you could find 5 minutes to add one of your own.

To say thank you we’ll give you a voucher for £5 off your next purchase at Yogawest. Simply email us telling us where to find the review and we will reply with your gift voucher.

Let people know what you think about the teaching, atmosphere and facilities or anything you think would be helpful to know as a first timer. Happy reviewing!

Kids and Teens Yoga Party

image-5

We are having a Yoga Party for children and teenagers at 4.30pm on July 15th. There will be a short class followed by tea and cakes. Everyone is invited: bring your friends, parents, aunts, uncles and neighbours. It is a great opportunity to try a bit of children’s yoga and see what a lovely time we all have. We provide a safe and encouraging environment and we would like everybody to know about how great it is!

Summer postcard competition

94013_9921

With the summer in full swing we’ve been wondering where you are all going for holiday. We’d love to get a postcard from you letting us know where you are and what you are doing.

So, send us a postcard from where you are before the end of August. Keep it fun, keep it sunny, include the whole family and most importantly tell us where you are! We are planning to set up a map on our facebook page so we can compare favourite destinations. And we’ll select a few favourites for a yoga prize in September.

And do remember we’d love to receive a photograph of you doing a yoga pose in a faraway place – in case you haven’t looked recently, we’ve got a lovely collection of Yogawesties Abroad. Send images to info@yogawest.co.uk
