Updated timetable now online

Timetable-Jan14-fcThe new Yogawest timetable is now available online and can be downloaded here. Printed copies will be available at the studio in a couple of weeks’ time.

A new 10am Saturday morning beginners class is being taught by Sam Xenofou. Sam is a newly qualified teacher and we are very pleased that she is teaching at Yogawest after having been here as a student for many years. You can read more about Sam here.

Frances is now teaching the Wednesday evening 6:15 intermediate class, and Luke has taken on the Saturday morning intermediate (9:45) and general (11:30) classes. During December, we said goodbye to Annette. Annette has taught for many years at Yogawest and we are very sorry to see her go. We wish her all the very best and look forward to seeing her at Yogawest events in the future.

There are a few classes which are not continuing due to low attendance numbers – the Tuesday evening experienced (6:00) Wednesday early morning general (7:30) and the Sunday evening general (6:00) classes. Julian is away for a couple of months  but once he’s back we may re-introduce the Sunday evening class if there’s enough interest. Likewise we are happy to consider adding new classes if we can – let us know which time slots would be good for you.

Spread the Joy

spread-the-wordOne of the best ways of people finding Yogawest is through reviews on the internet. We looked recently and found there are only 2 reviews of us out there, and we’d really love it if you could find 5 minutes to add one of your own.

To say thank you we’ll give you a voucher for £5 off your next purchase at Yogawest. Simply email us telling us where to find the review and we will reply with your gift voucher.

Review us on:
Trip Advisor – review here
Yelp – review here
or Google Maps – review here

Let people know what you think about the teaching, atmosphere and facilities or anything you think would be helpful to know as a first timer. Happy reviewing!

Use them or lose them!

Yogawest-pollysshoes5246Some of our classes have low numbers and we’d love to get more of you along to them to secure their place on the timetable. These include Wednesday Early Morning, Sunday evening, Friday lunchtime classes. We are also introducing another new Yogawest teacher on Thursday evenings: see below.

Early Morning

earlymorningyogaFor those of you who love to start your day with yoga we have a 7:30-8:30am class taught by Jess. We have some loyal regulars but unfortunately the class numbers are in need of a boost to sustain it. If you have been thinking about trying an early morning class or if you are puzzling over where you can fit more yoga into your week this may be the class for you. Bring a friend before going out for breakfast or come before tackling that pile of paperwork. This class is in danger of being discontinued and we will review it at half term.

Sunday Evening

Julianheadshot2By popular demand we have introduced a Sunday evening  general class from 18:00-19:30. This is a lovely way to finish your weekend and prepare for the week ahead. Julian is a new teacher at Yogawest though many of you may already know him from the classes he attends and covers here. So do come and try it!

Friday Lunchtime

Edgar-458-headshot-170x169Did you know that Edgar Stringer now teaches the Friday lunchtime general class 12:30-14:00? He is a senior teacher so you can expect to learn a lot under the instruction of this very experienced, nurturing teacher.

New Teacher

SONY DSCWe have a new teacher starting with us this month, we are pleased to welcome Luke Hutchison to Yogawest. Luke is teaching the beginners class on Thursday evenings from 18:15-19:30 and foundation courses (see timetable for start dates) from 20:00-21:00.

Win a Yogacard-6

The winners of the prize draw will receive either a Yogacard-6 (3 available) or a Yogawest mug (20 available).

Tell us what you like about Yogawest and what you would like us to improve. We’d like to hear about any changes you would like to see in the centre or on the timetable. Is there a yoga class you would like us to run?

We would also like to hear from you about your favourite teachers. Can you give them a testimonial that we could include on our website?

We will contact the winners by email in the week following the draw.

Timetable update advance info

We are nearly ready to publish the new Autumn timetable, but thought you may like some advance info…

New Classes

There’s a new Thursday evening general class with Lizzie at 7pm, a new Intermediate class with Andrea on Sundays at 11.45, a Friday lunchtime class with Andrea at 12.30, and a new beginners class with Frances on Monday evening at 7.15. (Tamara will still teach her very popular Monday 8pm class which will become a general class).

And following the success of the pranayama course in the summer, we have added a regular pranayama course to the timetable on Wednesday evenings.

Time Changes

The early evening classes will now start at 6.15 (instead of 6.10), except on Friday which stays at 6pm.

Tamara’s Wednesday evening beginners class will start 15 mins earlier at 7.45 (until 9.15).

By popular demand Annette’s Saturday morning Intermediate class will start 15 mins later at 9.45 (until 11.15).

The Wednesday evening pregnancy class will at 6.15 until 7.30 and will now run as a course: you can book for 6 weeks in advance, although drop-in is still possible.

The Wednesday early morning class stays at it’s new time of 7.30 and is bookable as a course: we need 5 bookings to secure it will run.

Class level changes

Janet’s Monday 10.30 class and Diana’s Wednesday 10am class will become general classes. Beginners are very welcome of course: the change of name simply reflects the fact that many people in the class have been coming for a long time and are no longer beginners. Janet and Diana will continue to teach an appropriate level of yoga for the students who come and will look after new beginners.

Class name changes

At Intermediate level, instead of having Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2, we will now have Intermediate and Experienced.

Intermediate classes are suitable for students who have been coming regularly to beginner or general classes and are ready to learn asanas at a more detailed level, and to add new asanas to their practice. Your teacher can advise you if you are ready to try an Intermediate class.

Experienced classes are for students, teachers and trainees who have regularly attended Iyengar classes for more than 2 years, and are confident in maintaining a stable Sirsasana for 5 minutes and Sarvangasana for 8 minutes.

Early morning class now 7.30!

Many of you have told us that you’d love to come to yoga early in the morning, but our 8am start was too late! So we’ve moved it…

From May 9th the Wednesday early morning class with Jess is 7.30 to 8.30 and this class now runs as a course. (You can drop in, however please check with us first as if we don’t have enough bookings the class may not be on.)

The first course is 4 weeks: May 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th. Download booking form YW_earlyam_WedMay9thx4weeks

The next course will start on June 13th x 6 weeks.

We are hoping that this change will help get this class well and truly off the ground!
