Gentle Classes

The gentle course is a series of slower paced classes aimed at those who feel they are not ready for beginner or general classes, especially those who are stiffer, older or unfit.

Taught by Jess Wallwork, who has many years experience of teaching all abilities, and has a calm and gentle nature herself.

There are two gentle courses: Monday afternoons at 2pm and Tuesday mornings at 11.15am.

Drop-in may be possible for some courses once they are confirmed as running (check with us), but please note that Yogacards are not valid for courses, and a drop-in fee is charged.

Meet Harry

Meet Harry!

SONY DSCHarry is a newcomer to Yogawest and started attending the Gentle class on a Monday Afternoon. He is the perfect example of how Iyengar yoga is suitable for all ages and abilities and there’s no such thing as too old: at 96, Harry is still agile and remarkably fit. Many thanks to Jess and Melroy for making him so welcome in class.

Quiet Classes

SONY DSCBecause we offer a drop-in system for most of our classes at Yogawest, we never quite know how many will be in a class. Usually it’s the evening and weekend classes that are busier (but not always!).

Some classes are always quieter than others and if you want a bit more of the teacher’s time and attention, here are some quieter classes to try:

Gentle 2 – 3pm (runs as a course)
General 6.45 – 8.15pm

Beginners  7.15 – 8.30pm

Beginners 9.15 – 10.30am
Intermediate 6.15 – 7.45pm

General 9.15 – 10.45am
Beginners 11 – 12.15pm

Restorative 6 – 7.30pm

Beginners 9.30 – 11.00am

General 6 – 7.30pm

The children’s class are now split into 2 age ranges Key stage 1 (4-7s) and Key stage 2 (7-11s) both classes are Tuesday afternoon, devised and taught by Alex Kingston read more
